Surrey Gymnastics to acquire Wayland Sports Surrey

Surrey Gymnastic Society and Wayland Sports have reached an agreement to transfer the ownership of Wayland Sports Surrey to Surrey Gymnastic Society.

Surrey Gymnastic Society will acquire all staff from Wayland Sports Surrey, as well as their mailing list and gymnastics equipment.

The Board of Directors have been investigating relocation options for the past 24 months, and this relocation was the most cost effective way for Surrey Gymnastics to continue to serve the residents of Surrey and North Delta without a lot of attrition.   There simply is not enough suitable buildings in Surrey willing to have a Gymnastics club do business there for an appropriate price, while at the same time being able to retain our programming.

SGS is continuing to explore options with the city and has received an extension at Frank Hurt to January 2021.

It is our hope that the City of Surrey will work with us to establish a partnership and have been actively engaging the parks committee.

This facility has the layout already set up for operating a gymnastics organization, and allows us to transition out of our Frank Hurt location if need be when the province decides to fund the Frank Hurt expansion.

Surrey Gymnastics is operating at full capacity and is unable to expand further to accommodate the Wayland Sports families within our own facility.   It is our hope that we can further grow out the recreational side of our organization through Wayland Surrey.    The acquisition of the mailing list will prove most invaluable into the next 5-10 years while we work with establishing stronger ties to the City of Surrey.
